Breathdown is a psychological horror game where you control a diver exploring a submerged mall complex. Try to navigate the different areas of the building before your oxygen runs out, avoiding obstacles as you swim. From time to time, you may even encounter a friendly character, lost in this place, just like you. Remember, breathe.

This project is a submission for Global Jam 2025. The theme for the jam was 'Bubble'.

We included several diversifiers from the list facilitated by GGC (https://globalgamejam.org/news/global-game-jam-2025-diversifiers-are-here) as additional constraints:

  • Y2K: It has been 25 years since the start of this new millennium. Celebrate it by implementing any early 2000s / late 90s aesthetics such as Y2K Futurism, Frutiger Aero, Metalheart, etc.
  • Soundscape: Create an immersive atmosphere through use of ambient sounds rather than music.
  • Melodic: Your music has a single melody which evolves as the game progresses.
  • In a liminal space: The game is set in some kind of eerie empty space, like an abandoned mall or a vacant hotel.
  • Time is a flat circle: The ending of your game seamlessly merges back to its beginning in a loop.
  • Strange as folk: Your game has a folk horror theme.
